Privacy Policy

What we store

• From Discord when you log in: your Discord ID and username, display name (or server nickname), avatar, whether you're a member of the Next Level server (updated automatically when you leave, are banned or join again), when you joined it, and your roles on the server — including game roles, which fill in the games on your profile.
• Your Discord status: whether you're online, idle or on do-not-disturb, and the name of the game or app Discord says you're using — without its details (such as match, file or folder names) and without your custom status.
• What you create: articles (including drafts), posts, comments, likes, reports and images you upload.
• Activity on the website: XP, levels and badges are worked out from your posts, comments, likes you receive and published articles.
• Your login session: an nl_session cookie keeps you logged in for 30 days. The database only stores a scrambled (hashed) version of it, plus your browser/device type.
• Read counts: when you open an article or post, your IP address is used briefly (about 30 minutes, in server memory only) so one reader isn't counted many times. It isn't stored in the database. Your browser also notes what you've opened in its local storage.

We don't ask for your email or password, don't read your Discord messages, and don't use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

What it's used for

• Showing your profile, roles, games and posts on the website.
• Keeping the community safe: reviewing articles and posts before they go live, flagging spam and handling reports.
• Community statistics such as read and post counts.
• Keeping your account safe and preventing abuse (for example daily posting limits).

What the Next Level bot does on Discord

• Gives you the Community Web Member role the first time you log in to the website, and takes it back if you delete your account.
• Posts one welcome message for you in the web-member channel.
• Sends you a DM when the status of your article or post changes (approved, changes requested or rejected), and when an admin blocks or restores your writing access.
• Announces newly published articles and community posts in a Discord channel — the title, a snippet, the image and the author's name.

Who can see your data

• Every visitor: your profile and everything that's published (articles, posts, comments).
• Next Level admins: pieces you send for review, reports and what's needed for moderation.
• Service providers: Discord (for login and the bot) and the companies hosting the website and its database. They only process data to run this website.

We don't sell, rent or share your data for advertising.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Login sessions end after 30 days. Articles, posts or comments you delete are removed from the database straight away; the hosting provider's backups may keep them a little longer before they're deleted automatically.

Your rights

• Your name, avatar and roles follow your Discord account — change them on Discord, then log in again to update the website.
• Delete your own articles, posts or comments any time on the website.
• Delete your whole account yourself any time (profile, sessions and everything you wrote) on the Delete account page — you can also open it from your profile. If something goes wrong, ask through a ticket on the Discord server; we handle it within 30 days.
• Revoke the website's access to your Discord account any time in Discord → Settings → Authorized Apps.

Age limit

Like Discord, this website is for people aged 13 or older (or the minimum age in your country).

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page is updated. Important changes are also announced on the Discord server.
